Road Safety Program
ConnectEast - Supporting Road Safety in the Community
ConnectEast, the owner and operator of EastLink, is proud to support the EastLink Road Safety Program in partnership with the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League and the Eastern Football League.
Safe roads and safe driving are of paramount concern to ConnectEast, demonstrated by the fact that EastLink is already one of Victoria’s safest roads.
ConnectEast is committed to supporting efforts to raise awareness amongst local young people about the risks and consequences of dangerous driving.
Drivers in the 18-25 age bracket are over-represented in road accident statistics. Road safety, particularly amongst young people, is a compelling issue in Melbourne's outer east and south-east. Four of the top seven municipalities for road deaths in Victoria are located in or near the EastLink corridor. Furthermore, Mornington Peninsula and Casey were ranked first and second for youth road fatalities in 2008.

EastLink Road Safety Program
The EastLink Road Safety Program delivered to football and netball clubs in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League and the Eastern Football League:
- Provides clubs and players with the information and knowledge to make good road safety decisions and become leaders in positive decision-making
- Highlights the risks and consequences of making poor decisions both on and off the road
- Introduces positive and useful information to first-time drivers about owning a car
- Talks about acting responsibly with regards to drinking alcohol and driving.
Every participant of the road safety program aged 18 or under will receive a free 12 month RACV membership.
The overall goal of this innovative road safety initiative is that all players and officials within the clubs that have completed the EastLink Road Safety Program have greater awareness of the issues associated with road safety.
