Tolling
EastLink is Melbourne's second fully-electronic free-flow tollroad. The tolling system allows motorists to pay tolls without stopping or slowing for toll lanes or toll plazas. Traffic on EastLink is free-flowing and generally quicker to use than the existing arterial road network.
A Spanish company, Sociedad Iberica de Construcciones Electricas, S.A. (SICE) was selected to provide the tolling system. SICE has extensive experience in transport technologies, including the commissioning in 2004 of a fully-electronic tolling system in Santiago, Chile.
